Back to Reality - Getting Ready to Pour the Pad

April 21, 2017

It is now November 24, 2016.  The plumber has been in to lay in the plumbing vents, we've had sand delivered & we've spread & tamped...and tamped.  We've lost weight through the vibrations (thankfully!)  The water line is coiled up in yet another trench which will eventually have to make its way, along with the electrical supply, under the retaining wall and the driveway to access the main house.  The wooden box on the pad is the plumber's rough estimate of the where the shower will be.

A moment of exuberance as the 2-1/2" xps rigid insulation has been laid over the sand, placed and taped in the vapour barrier and tuck-taped all the penetrations.  Cutting a 45 degree bevel on 2-1/2" rigid insulation is ALMOST impossible - not quite - but nearly.  We did manage to do it.  Complicated details as the concrete floor will be the exposed finish for the cottage.
